IT'S SNOWING!!!

Thursday 02 October 2008 at 12:06 pm.

OK...it's not snowing exactly where I am.

A laser instrument designed to gather knowledge of how the atmosphere and surface interact on Mars has detected snow from clouds about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) above the spacecraft's landing site.

Nothing like this view has ever been seen on Mars," said Jim Whiteway, of York University, Toronto, lead scientist for the Canadian-supplied Meteorological Station on Phoenix. "We'll be looking for signs that the snow may even reach the ground.

Whether or not (or should that be "weather or not") the snow has ever accumulated on the ground makes no difference this time because "Data show the snow vaporizing before reaching the ground."

Sorry. But the martians children will still have to go to school today. (Read the entire article...)

(By the way. The graphic at the top of the post is a Martian sunrise. Doesn't look too dissimilar from the Midnight Sun of Alaska now, does it?)

It’s cool to see that. I love the idea of snow on Mars.

Milly - 02-10-’08 20:08

Good to see you bloggin DK! I have not been getting anything from your RSS feed so I unsubscribed and resubscribed.. hopefully I’ll get here a bit sooner.

Hope all is well in your world.

Blessings, Bob

Kansas Bob (Email) (URL) - 04-10-’08 18:14

Well, it’s quite apparent that my brother is what one would call ‘busy’. Either that, or he has just up and relocated his family to Alaska. I will surely miss him. :(

Chic - 16-10-’08 18:12

Milly (URL) - 17-10-’08 19:11

WHILE THE BOYS ARE AWAY THE MICE WILL PLAY!!!

Milly (URL) - 17-10-’08 19:12

I used to have mice as pets. Although I think the ‘wild’ mice that folks get in their homes are much cuter.

Chic - 21-10-’08 16:43

How do you make a butterfly?

Flick it out of the butter dish with a knife!

Milly (URL) - 24-10-’08 17:30

LOL…You are a trip, Mil-gurl.

Danny Kaye - 24-10-’08 17:32

I thought you needed a few jokes to liven this blog up.

Milly (URL) - 26-10-’08 10:23

Returning to topic, I’ve just heard that the Mars Reconnaisance Rover has just found evidence of Opal on Mars.

… can Vauxhaul be far behind?

Jackson - 31-10-’08 09:37

Sorry Jackson, but I have to return to ‘no topic’. hahaha
Thought I would inform folks in the know that after almost 10 months without employment that I will finally be working full-time. Yes. It’s true. I will be working as the secretary to the attorney for a paper making company that is environmentally friendly and uses water based inks. They do a lot of work for Macy’s, Estee Lauder, and some other companies I don’t know yet. Some companies are international.
And I have my own office and a window. :)
That’s all for today.

Chic - 01-11-’08 17:29

Way to go Chic! (h)

Milly (URL) - 01-11-’08 21:45

Thanks, Milly!
I am looking forward to doing something with my days other than looking for employment. Haha
Oh, and checking to see if my dear brother has updated or posted anything on here. And, well, as folks can see…. he hasn’t. He is BUSY! I may have to send him stuff to throw on here.

Chic - 04-11-’08 03:55

Chic you should send some stuff. He might even show you how to do it yourself.

Milly (URL) - 04-11-’08 05:34

Hmmnnn…..
I guess that would be fine! I am wondering where byevad
is though.

Chic - 04-11-’08 19:32

Hey, DK, just thought I’d ask how you’re doing. Been quiet around here lately, no FFAF’s even.

For anyone—not sure what the musical tastes are around here, but I got to see a concert on Sat night with the following folks:

http://www.derekwebb.com
sandra mccracken
waterdeep
alli rogers

All of them have myspace pages where you can listen if you’re interested in a preview. It was a fun concert—I wasn’t familiar with Waterdeep, but they turned out to be very entertaining and super talented. I had some links but Danny’s filter software told me to stop spamming.

chip - 10-11-’08 19:23

It is quiet over here. Without new posts on my reader, I forget to stop by and say “Hi!” to Chic. :(

Hi, Chic! How’s the new job going?

Missy (URL) - 17-11-’08 09:23

Hey there Missy! And anyone else out there! I have fully completed one week at the new job, thank you for asking. Actually, last week I was a bit bored with not too much to do but answer the phones, disconnect folks, cut them off. You know, the usual stuff a new person goes through while attempting to learn the phone system. Today I was not bored at all. They are going to change office locations, so there is a lot to do prior to that. I just want to fix up my own office and make it personal. You know, hang up pictures, stuff like that. Haha. I suppose I really should wait until my 90 days are up though. So far I do like it. My boss is very nice. She even bought me a green mountain rainforest nut coffee today! :) Hey, what’s not to like!
I looked for the coffee icon, but it’s not there anymore.

I am thinking that DK is busy, and maybe, just maybe, he is finding it hard to get back into the blogging? He probably has all sorts of fantastic things to say, but to make the time to sit at the computer and type maybe doesn’t appeal to him right now. He’s doing stuff. He’s a den ‘mother’ now, man! He’s got to prioritize! But, what do I know. Don’t listen to me. Just speculating is all…….

Chic - 17-11-’08 19:55

Yeah! Chic!

We could write about the misadventures of DK.

Anyone want to play?

Once upon a time . . . .

Milly (URL) - 20-11-’08 05:44

DK was a small boy who used to slide down the wood floor hall in his jammies and socks and say to our Mom………..‘Wake me up when you get up’.

When he got a bit older our Dad said we had to rake the yard leaves and we would put them in the bag, try to throw the bag over our shoulders and say ‘Do it the big-job way’.

Those memories still crack me up man. You had to be there.

Now hear this….. little did we know that when DK was beginning to grow into a young man, troubled waters oh, they were a’comin’ ahead.

Milly, my things are true, but feel free to use your imagination! :) Come on you fine folks! Join in what is sure to be a truly fantastic fest! Be nice though. He ain’t heavy (wait a sec), he’s my brother.
Love ya DK!

Chic - 20-11-’08 22:50

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to you all. It was nice to see my older brother and his kids, but it was lonely without my Mom. DK couldn’t make it down that day so I, yes, me, cooked my very first turkey, from start to finish. I must say, it was gross. Touching it is just plain yucky, so I wore gloves. My dad and everyone else said it was a success. I’m not so sure. I didn’t really eat any. My stuffing was dry, but all right. Another first. But I can make some mean pototoes and scrumptious carrots. Those I ate. We missed out on DK’s pumpkin pie, so I bought one at a store that makes them fresh. And a sugar-free apple pie for Dad. That was pretty tasty. You would never know it was sugar-free. And we had some chocolate cream special layer pie from Hershey’s. That was really good. On the box it said to ‘Consume Immediately’, so we did. Then little Chic and I went over to a friend’s house for more (better) dessert and company. That was nice. Hope everyone had a pleasant day.

Chic - 30-11-’08 16:13

It was a great day for this gals clan.

Sorry that DK didn’t make it.
I’m praying for you.

Chic if you ever need to talk about your mom I have an ear. I miss my mom too. I’ll tell you it get better but you still miss those great ladies.

Love you folks,
Milly

Milly (URL) - 01-12-’08 22:00

Thanks Milly. I appreciate that very much. I am finding different ways of handling it. But one day I might surprise you and email my tears to you. :)

Chic - 06-12-’08 22:12

Any time Chic.

December 17th marks one more year without my mom. You are right you find different ways.

Milly (URL) - 07-12-’08 21:01

Milly, my thoughts are with you. These holidays are a tough thing aren’t they. I just want to pretend they don’t come along.

All right Jeff! Enough is enough! Get your booty on here or I’m going to give you one ‘up on the side’. And you know what I mean brutha!

Chic - 09-12-’08 17:45

WHAT SISTA CHIC SAID!!!!!!

Milly (URL) - 10-12-’08 17:02

OK…OK…I don’t want one up on the side!!!

Yes…I’ve been crazy busy. It’s true. I do have to say that this thread is pretty cool to check out, though. I love the randomness of the conversation.

I promise, I’ll post something new soon.

Danny Kaye - 10-12-’08 20:30

Heeee’s baaaaAAAAAAck……….

Chic - 11-12-’08 05:04

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Milly (URL) - 11-12-’08 05:37

DK, I knew you’d show up after the one on the side call.
Good to e-see you….. finally.
Anyone reading anything I might be interested in???
I’m always looking for a new book, even though I have a ton to read. Right now I’m reading ‘The Notorious Mrs. Winston’ by Mary Mackey. It’s a Civil War novel.

Chic - 11-12-’08 18:43

Chic,
Who has that kind of time?

Milly (URL) - 15-12-’08 21:14

Well Milly, it’s one of those things I am doing to help myself. I hadn’t been reading seriously in a couple of years for some reason, but when Mom went in the hospital the first time, I began again. It takes me away to an imaginary place. I started reading Janet Evanovich first because she is a riot and I couldn’t deal with anything serious at that time, just the funny stuff. I actually went and bought the book for her for when she was in the hospital but I ended up reading it. Now though, I am able to read other topics. I have always been an avid reader, which made my Mom very happy because she was as well. She kept a list of every book she read each year. She would polish a book off in a few days. Anyway, so I make the time! :)

Chic - 16-12-’08 19:31

I’m from reading stock. My bro reads all the time. Honestly, he seems to always have a book. It just seems that I run out of me time these days.

Speaking of that I have laundry to start.

BTW I think that you and I need to write the next post. Danny and Dave who???

Milly (URL) - 17-12-’08 16:33

Well, here in the Pioneer Valley, we continue to get some flurries, about 7” of flurries so far… that’s a lot of flurries.
How about you? How many inches of flurries do you have?
I like that word.. flurries.

Chic - 19-12-’08 18:37

We have no flurries at all. We are Flurrieless at the moment. We did have sleet and flurries earlier this week but now we have no flurries. So yes we have no flurries. To sum it up no flurries in this part of Oklahoma.

Milly (URL) - 21-12-’08 00:10

We have just over a foot of one huge flurrie. :)

Chic - 23-12-’08 19:25

wow that is one huge flurrie!

Still flurrieless in Okie town

Milly (URL) - 23-12-’08 19:51

Milly, the rain yesterday melted half of the flurrie.
Hope ya’ll had a nice Christmas.

Chic - 25-12-’08 20:38

We did have a nice one and if a flurrie had tried he would have melted into a drop. Great weather in Okieland.

Milly (URL) - 26-12-’08 05:40

I wasn’t aware that flurries now have genders. When did this happen? Man, I have missed so much news during this year! I will be sure to catch up in 2009.

Chic - 27-12-’08 08:13

you have to look quickly and sometimes you need to turn them over to see. :-I

Milly (URL) - 29-12-’08 20:35

Milly, you’re hilarious!!!!

DK (Email) - 30-12-’08 07:04

Danny!!!!!!!
I was thinking about you like every day because we were showing White Christmas almost everyday at work!

I was the only one singing and dancing. Kill joys were like haven’t we seen this three times already today!!! I was all all. . .SO what of it

I love DK and You too!

Milly (URL) - 30-12-’08 20:33

All righty. Now hold it right there Mister Dude. DK, you FINALLY come back and all you have to say is ‘Milly, you’re hilarious’ ?????? Which is quite true, but, man….come onnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!
Oh, and Happy New Year! :)

Chic - 01-01-’09 13:12

Happy New Year!!!!!!

Milly (URL) - 03-01-’09 05:30

I must say, my New Year started off on a good note. Typically, I don’t go anywhere on New Year’s Eve……..crazy nutty drivers out there! However, I ended up going to my cousin’s wedding and having a nice time. Dk, if you are reading this (and not responding…hahaha) it was Rachel’s wedding. You remember, Ann’s daughter? I decided that 2009 is going to be a better year than 2008 and so far it has been. I went to the wedding for numerous reasons, and it was a good decision. I needed to apologize for some behavior. I won’t get into it now. Other things have happened as well. Little Chic and I have gotten much closer. She’s 13 1/2. Lots of communication between us. Some I want to hear………and ugh, some I don’t, but secretly actually do. :) And I made what I think could be a new friend or two. And I have re-connected with soemone I haven’t seen in a couple of years. This is good, because I don’t have friends who I hang out with. Haven’t ‘hung out’ in years. I have a job I like, my car hasn’t broken down yet and needed some major overhaul, I have started doing some crafty things, my cat hasn’t gained much more weight, I got some really great lotions for the holiday, which I so needed… I suppose the list could go a bit further, but I have to take off now for something other than cyber life. And I know this is all about me, but I think I deserve a little pick ME up.
Have a good day! :)

Chic - 06-01-’09 05:12

Chic,
You go girl!

Milly (URL) - 06-01-’09 05:38

I went! I’m still going! :)

And……….with all the flurries and ice we have had, my car has not slid. Wooohooo!

And……….little Chic actually enjoys talking to me now! Wooohooo!

And……….one of my favorite shows comes back on tv this week! Wooohooo!

And……….for Christmas next year I have got a really cool idea! Wooohooo!

And……….I have some top secret news! Double Wooohooo!

How’s 2009 for you so far?

Chic - 13-01-’09 05:00

We got the FLURRIES!!!!!!!

Milly (URL) - 15-01-’09 20:47

The flurries!
Golly! I hope it’s curable, Mil-Gurl!

DK - 16-01-’09 10:09

I’m not a doctor. And I don’t play one on TV either. I don’t even have hopes of becoming one. However, if I may be so bold…… I will say that the cure for this weird case of flurries in Okie is the next season. You just might have the flurries for the rest of the winter.
And HEY!!!! DK, again, with the tiny wee comment!? What is the deal with that? You didn’t even ask about the ‘top secret’ news! Only making comments for Milly.

Milly, Milly, Milly.

It’s all about Milly. (and please, take no offense Milly!) :)
But…what about meeee, I want some! I suppose I’ll be using the cellular device this weekend.

Chic - 16-01-’09 19:09

Do tell Chic.

Please pray for my son he fell and broke his hip. I have a bit more on my post but the 8 hour window ws missed.

Milly (URL) - 18-01-’09 18:01

Milly, glad to hear your son is doing ok and making you laugh!

Here is a trivia question for you::
What version of the Bible have courts normally used to swear in witnesses?

Chic - 25-01-’09 17:29

I would think King James

Milly (URL) - 26-01-’09 05:35

And the prize goes to contestant #1…….Milly!
Come on down!

Chic - 26-01-’09 19:01

I wish I could :-{ then I could hang with you and Little chic. Danny must be too busy so we’ll see if he comes to see me if I could be there but I can’t because my son is hurt and I have to have my knee worked on and I’m in the middle of a divorce and I work and I have no money to get there.

Still……

I win!

Milly (URL) - 26-01-’09 20:12

Milly, I’ve been there so many times. Tons of stuff going on and not much of it is cool stuff. Yucky. But I feel things this year will be better than last year. So, think positive! :)

I have some more neat news. Someone gave me center stage tickets to see a ‘tribute to motown’. I, Miss, never-go-out, am going somewhere! I am going to ask little Chic if she wants to go, but I don’t expect she will, it’s not her type of music. But who knows, she is surprising me these days. If she doesn’t want to go, I will ask my friend to come from Maine and go with me. I am very excited. Hey, I don’t even care if I have to go alone! :)

Chic - 27-01-’09 19:03

Milly, how’s your son doing? Can he get around with crutches at all?

Hey! Guess what? Little Chic said YES and we are going to the ‘tribute of motown’ together! Surprise, surprise! This makes that night totally cool, no matter what.

Also, I did not slide ONCE on the way to/from work today. I’m very very happy with my car this year.

Chic - 28-01-’09 19:16

Cool for Motown and the Little Chic.

Glad the car did well.

The son is doing well, he has a walker. I’m a bit of a mess these days but I’ll get on ok. You know how it is to be a woman. Can’t hit a man in the face so we yell and cry. Gee why can’t my boss figure it out and back off!

Milly (URL) - 30-01-’09 15:52

Milly, I am happy to hear your son is doing better. Is he brave? Can he handle pain? Not me! A bit of a wuss in those areas, I am. Another thing I’m working on.

Hmmnnnn….. about men. Well, I can honestly say that I have many a time been angry, and yes, angry enough to slug. But I am not a violent person. I get some of my stuff out verbally and sometimes very sarcastically, which is usually not appreciated. Although there have been times where I am beyond anger and speaking is something I cannot do. Best to walk away, even in the heat of fury. Less to regret.

Chic - 31-01-’09 21:44

Chic,
He’s very brave and doing well.

My boss and I did well today I think he got it and I was in a better mood, that is, before dealing with almost ex-stupid -husband and insurance companies I have been on the phone with three today. I hate these people so right now. I know that I shouldn’t hate but I really want bad things to happen. The Hepa laws are making it even harder. Arg!

I just need one company to call itself. It won’t so I have to pray that almost ex makes that call.

Milly (URL) - 02-02-’09 17:32

Milly, I can’t imagine what you must be going through. I have never been married, therefore, haven’t gone through a divorce. I really do hope things get smoother for you. You seem to be such a sweet person. A sweet person with a bit of an edge. I like that! :) Good luck with the phone calls.

Isn’t it kind of humorous that you and I are just keeping this particular thread going. No new posts since OCTOBER! Um, by the way DK, that’s a wee tiny hint for ya. Haha. In the words of KC………..shake your booty, shake your booty.

Chic - 02-02-’09 19:50

I think Chic and I need to write a post together.

Divorce is hard but he wants it to be painful.

I’m set for having my knee worked on the 13th so I’ll have some down time to write more.

If Danny is still around WE MISS YOU!!!!!

Milly (URL) - 04-02-’09 22:10

I don’t miss him. Ahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
You know I’m only ribbin’ ya, bro!

Chic - 05-02-’09 18:51

Chic,

We could write about what great sisters we are!

Milly (URL) - 06-02-’09 17:56

I AM a good sista! DK just don’t be realizin’ dat, man. I neva had me a sista. Now, I got one. How cool is dat?

I don’t know why I am writing like that. Forgive me.

Chic - 06-02-’09 20:25

True dat sista

Milly (URL) - 07-02-’09 23:12

… I decided to swing by and see if Danny ever came up for air. I felt like I had interrupted a family conversation.

As someone who waited a lifetime to marry (at age 45), I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through Divorce, Milly.

If Danny drops by, tell him I said “hi”

… and want him back so bad that I ACTUALLY LEFT MY EMAIL ADDRESS.

Jackson (Email) - 10-02-’09 13:09

Jackson,
You’re welcome to join the conversation Jackson Bro.

Thanks for the sorry thoughts (You know what I mean) Wow 45 could this mean I might find a fella at the age of 47?

I think we’ve lost Danny. :-{

Milly (URL) - 10-02-’09 20:31

Welcome to the family, Jackson. Please feel free to join the Sista Club. We welcome Bruthas as well. We are not discriminatory. You will be lucky if you hear from DK, but I will tell him you said hi. He’s a bit wacked out being busy. I did talk to him the other day, so he is not lost. Well, if he was lost, then I found him. Oh, Hurray for me! One more thing to add to my good things of 2009! I found my long, lost brother!! And I do mean LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG LOSTTTTTTTTTTT. haha.
As for marriage, man, I got nothing. Sometimes I wonder if I would take that step, but I have not found the right person. And even then, I’m not even sure if I would get married. I just don’t know. Milly, I’m sure there is a fella out there for you: Someone spunky! :)

Chic - 10-02-’09 20:59

Yea for Sista Chic!

How about you single and spunky dudes tell me about yourselves.

Go on, we’re listening.

DK was lost and now he’s found. It’s a good thing.

Milly (URL) - 11-02-’09 19:15

Spunky dudes: Go on. The entire group of 2 are listening. Keep it wholesome.

So, I drive the back roads to get to my Dad’s house. For years there has been a barn that I could see from the road. It had a huge hole on the roof and little Chic and I always hoped that there weren’t any animals inside. The hole got bigger as time went on. All of a sudden I drive by and the barn is gone. Demolished. Gone, I tell ya! There are a couple of shacks that were hidden by the barn and those are still there, but is it strange for me to miss seeing the barn with it’s hole?

And another thing. As you enter our condos where we live, there were some beautiful pine trees. It was nice to see when coming home. Again, all of a sudden they cut down the trees. Now the tree-cutting folks are on what seems like a rampage. Several trees are no longer there and when you drive in, the place seems destitute and too open. Is it strange to miss these trees?

Chic - 15-02-’09 11:20

Oh Milly! I forgot to ask how your surgery went.
Milly, how did your surgery go?

Chic - 15-02-’09 11:23

Sorry about the barn and the trees. I hope some nice new trees go in their place.

My surgery went well. I’m chill’n at my dad’s. Pain killers are nice. I’ll think about posting the surgery on my site. Yep I have it on DVD. I’ve smacked into stuff a few times from being on the crutches. It’s going well though and I get to take a shower today. I need a shower!

Milly (URL) - 15-02-’09 14:07

Oh, how I love a good hot shower.

Chic - 19-02-’09 19:24

Funny about that shower. My sister turned the water on and I got in. I was trapped! She had turned it on as hot as it goes, and that is hot enough to cook pasta while showering. I had a heck of a time stepping in so stepping out wasn’t looking good. I managed to grab a bottle of shampoo and hit the knob, all the while standing on one leg. Two good hits brought the water to a stop so that I could start it again. It was great but I was glad to get home to my easy in shower.

Milly (URL) - 19-02-’09 22:09

Maybe your sister was trying to scald the unmistakable aroma of you not having a shower. It sounds like you had quite the episode.

Did you ever have a friend do something awful, say, trip and fall, (or scald themselves) and you laugh your head off for a moment because it’s hiliarious to you, THEN decide to ask if they are ok? Um, it’s kinda like that. So, are you ok now?

Chic - 21-02-’09 10:51

I’m ok now. I told her and dad about it after I got out and my daughter looked over and said “She does that.”

She forgets how hot that water gets.

Danny needs to start a new post for us so that we don’t have to work so hard to get to the bottom to comment.

Milly (URL) - 21-02-’09 14:30

Indeed. My scrolling finger is hurtin’. It’s been like 4 months and 19 days since the last post, and I am wondering if anyone still reads this besides you and me, Milly.

Chic - 21-02-’09 19:10

No…I read it.

I think my next post will be in video form. That will be cool. (h)

DK - 21-02-’09 21:30

And………..when will that be?

Actually, it would be cool. Instead of WRITING what you have been up to, make a video and SAY it. Neat idea, Chic. Oh, yes, a very groovy one. I have a link, but I don’t know how to do it, so I copied and pasted in here. Good luck with the video, DK. :)

Milly, perhaps we could start a fight about the color of coffee and get something going here. Maybe the color of that new Starbucks instant coffee. I say it’s the color “yuck.”

DK, hope all is ok with you. I was looking for an old email you sent me so I could send a personal note, but it did not survive a purge of a few months ago.

I M P O R T A N T ! ! ! !

Anyone who has Jeff’s ‘phone number, please call – do NOT email – and tell him that his Gmail account has been hacked and that he must change the password immediately. Tell him “the snippet guy” said so.

I have emailed often with Jeff, even several times yesterday, but have never chatted . This morning when I go to the office I had the following chat, initiated by “Jeff” :

Jeff: Hi Sent at 08:21 on Monday Jeff: ? are you there Sent at 08:51 on Monday Jeff: i need your help right now Sent at 09:38 on Monday Jeff: ? are you there me: sure I am here – fire away you need my help? Jeff: are you aware that am in London me: I am not Jeff: came down here on a resort but unfortunately i got mugged at a gun point. all i had was stolen by the muggers that is why i need your help me: I see – how can I help? Jeff: my flight leaves in few hours, But having problem sorting hotel bills wondering if you can loan me the cash to get my hotel bill settle and get a cab to the airport i will def pay you back once am back i promise? me: who is your favourite actor? You have 20 seconds to answer Sent at 09:44 on Monday

Why did I ask that? This scam is going around at the moment. Jeff didn’t mention London yesterday. And “Jeff” doesn’t know his favourite actor??!! (I am sure that everyone reading this does :-)

So, someone please advise him – by phone – to change his Gmail password immediately. Obviously, we can’t email him, and I don’t have his number.
